You seem to be right. I have, via the backoffice of my webservice firm, updated the php, but when i do a phpinfo on it, i m still in 5.3.
I have just sent a ticket to them.

I try to update my install from 2.8.8 and when i try to load the update file, i have this error :
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '[' in /home/www/xxx/yyy/setup/update.php on line 35
