Hi again
I am wondering if it is possible to link to a file location within a shared network drive, where it will open the file location within windows explorer when you click the hyperlink?

Hi,
sure, just link to it via "file://", but as far as I know it won't work e.g. with Firefox.

Thanks for the reply. Still doesn't appear to work.Thorsten wrote:Hi,

I have created a link (using the 'insert/edit link' feature) but have come across an error.
The link is exactly this: "file://I:/Support Documentation/Backup of iPhone signup statement.docx"
When I click the link it opens a tab in chrome, but says: '403 forbidden - You don't have permission to access /kb/"file://I:/Support Documentation/Backup of iPhone signup statement.docx" on this server.'
Do you have any suggestions in regard to this error.

Hi,
Chrome doesn't allow opening local links, you need this addon: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... kghogcpida

I downloaded the addon you suggested but still doesn't work. If I click file://I:/Support Documentation/Backup of iPhone signup statement.docx it produces no results at all (no error message and makes no attempt to open anything).
However, when I create the link and select save, the following message appears:
'Automatic link verification result'
'No URLs compatible with link verifier feature found.'
Do you have any other suggestions?
Re: Hyperlink to open windows explorer
Hi,
my only suggestion is not to use local links as most browser do not support them any more. That's no phpMyFAQ specific issue.
