Groups and categories not integrating the way I thought they

Hi all!

I'm on 2.8.26. I want to make it so that when a user creates a question or a new FAQ in a category the entire group associated with that category is notified. I cannot find a way to do that. In this thread Thorsten says:

I cannot find any where to add a "moderator group" to a category. I can set a user as an owner of a category, but there's no "moderator group" setting. The only group option I see on the category edit screen is "Restrict to group." I don't want to restrict the category content to the group, but I do want the group notified when new content is created in their categories.

sorry for the confusion. Moderator groups are introduced with 2.9.
