Only one category showing on home page

I have always used vanilla installs of phpMyFAQ. Since upgrading from 3.1.7 to 3.2.1 by front page only displays one category and not all the others.

Any ideas as to why this has happened and how to fix it?

are the other categories flagged as "start page categories"?
