TinyMCE in 2.9.7 and Lists problems

Post by nitchimon »

TinyMCE doesn't seem to understand nested lists well. Each time you edit an article, the nesting shifts to the left.

I go into the source and remove everything and post HTML that is exactly the way I want. TinyMCE seems to add paragraphs, additional lists, reformats the lists and completely doesn't seem to understand nesting of lists within an article.

Example:
( dots added in for flow)
1) this
..... o that
..... o them
........ A. some
........ B. Maybe
........ C. never
..... o possible
2) when
..... o ever
..... o often
3) more text.

The formatting within Tiny MCE totally messes up these lists.

does the editor allow for XML instead of HTML ?

thoughts on this problem ?

Is there a way to get tinyMCE to understand HTML correctly ?

Basically, we wrote some articles in MS Word that we are trying to translate into myphpFAQ and having a difficult time with the editor.

thanks

No. I found out that if you copy and paste, it really loses the structure from MS word.

So I try and reproduce the structure of the article from MS word manually.
No matter what, TinyMCE always starts with a new paragraph( <p></p>).

When you inject a List item, then go in and add in a second sublist into the first, it begins to lose it's mind.

I've taken an MS word article, reproduced the formatting in HTML then pasted it into the article from the HTML the Source Code. This also re-structures the lists and can lose the flow, sub lists and numbering.

So I believe that TinyMCE while a powerful editor may be causing a big problem here for me.

One of the key items utilizing your great program (phpMyFaq) is that I can output into PDF or other formats.
I wanted a way to allow others to add in questions, get answers and then export where and when needed for creating manuals on the fly.
Or, write articles that can then be plugged in to a phpMyFAQ article. Yes, I could export as a PDF from word and use that as an attachment, but then we lose the power of the software.

So the editor is a major key point for me.

Please let me know how to get TinyMCE and the software to cooperate.

There is a paste plugin from the TinyMCE website that supposedly may help.

Is there any documentation for phpMyFAQ for allowing additional plugins to TinyMCE ?

If not, do you have any suggestions on how I can keep the HTML/MS Word format?

thanks

Hi,

if you point me to the plugin, I'll add it to the next version of phpMyFAQ.
