[2.8.x] Maintenance mode -change the default message, please
..
Dear Thorsten Rinne / Development Team

The current default maintenance mode message
Sorry, we'll be back soon!
may mislead the visitor to think that the site no longer exist, is hill-administrated and/or - as in many situations - will never return to the "active" state.

Perhaps

"We are performing scheduled maintenance operations during 1 hour.
Please visit us later.
If you see this page again, refresh your's browser cache.
If the situation persists, please send an e-mail to maintenance.problem@example.com with the subject "FAQ site - maintenance..."

(or a short and better alternative).

Including an automatic time stamp (using the ISO standard in "short" mode - YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss / YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss) would be useful.
..
Kind regards

Hi,

the maintenance page is just a simple template file. You can change to something that fits better for you.

bye

Yes, but a more precise ("polite"?) default sentence would be preferable - specially for those that don't have site administration privileges (e.g., just record administration).

A long sentence (as in the example) isn't needed, a simple

"We are performing scheduled maintenance operations. Please visit us later."

is enough.

Once again, its just (another) opinion.
..
Kind regards
