LDAPS StartTLS

Is there support for LDAPS or StartTLS? I don't allow any interaction with the openldap directory unless they have an SSL certificate. The LDAP servers listen on ports 389 and 636, but the normal port 389 is only open to allow starttls to connect and switch to encrypted communication. I don't want to make lighttpd/apache handle authentication. I'd like to see the phpmyfaq application do it.
