I tried to update from 2.0.15 to 2.5.5 this morning and it didn't take. Everything works -- links are fine, search is fine, but the admin and the bottom of every page still says version 2.0.15. Obviously the template seems to work so that's the only thing that's changed.
I've included screenshots of each step.
I'm wondering if it's because I selected my version 2.0.0 RC and later as my "upgrade from" version. I backed everything up.
After that, I deleted all the files (like I did in the first place to upgrade) except
* the files data.php in the directory inc/
* all files in the template/ directory { Granted, I did delete the entire directory rather than just deleting the files IN the directory }
* the directory attachments/
* the directory data/
* the directory images/
* the directory pdf/
* the directory xml/
then re-uploaded everything and tried to run the install script again. Of course, I got an ALTER TABLE _ not null error for pmf_faqsessions add user_id INT(11)
What can I do? This is somewhat urgent seeing as it's a project we want to launch soon.

Re: Update from 2.0.15 to 2.5.5 didn't work
Hi,
you had 2.0.15 installed, so you have to use "phpMyFAQ 2.0.2 and later" as version from which you want to update. Then the upgrade failed.
How many tables do you have now?

Re: Update from 2.0.15 to 2.5.5 didn't work
Hi,
looks okay. Just re-run the update script and choose "phpMyFAQ 2.5.3 or later" for the update process.

Re: Update from 2.0.15 to 2.5.5 didn't work
When you say "choose "phpMyFAQ 2.5.3 or later" for the process, does that mean to follow the instructions that I already followed? Because as you see from the screenshot below, before I never got the option to choose the version I wanted to upgrade *to* -- I just downloaded 2.5.5 and then uploaded it after deleting the requisite files?

Hi,
just run the update script, you don't have to delete anything.
We improved the update script in version 2.6 so that ou don't have to choose your version from which you upgrade. The update script will auto-detect your current version.

Re: Update from 2.0.15 to 2.5.5 didn't work
Ahh, I see -- actually, the text in the update file was confusing -- "choose your current version" kind of implies picking the version you already have, which for me was 2.0.15.
Maybe it'd be helpful to change it to:
"Please select the upgrade version you would like to upgrade to" (or something like that).
Thanks so much for your prompt response. It's still a little slow when browsing -- is there anything I can change to make it run faster (http://www.reneesgarden/com/faq)?

Hi,

Thorsten
that's hard to see without any access to your server. From my DSL account here in southern Germany it takes between 2 and 4 seconds... a little bit slow.hollyhock wrote:Thanks so much for your prompt response. Re: Update from 2.0.15 to 2.5.5 didn't work
Yeah, it's a bit faster than it was with 2.0.15, but still slow, especially considering the level of traffic we get each month and will get on the database. I called GoDaddy and they said even though we were on a shared hosting plan, they saw no server load. Who knows if they were lying? I'll test this out on another server and see if it's just the hosting plan....
Re: Update from 2.0.15 to 2.5.5 didn't work
Hi,
could be also a very low memory for the database... or a bad network.
