by playing with the move and cut icons, I lost a category. It's not a pb since I did not yet populate the site.
But I'm questioning myself on the stability of the system.
Maybe you know the kind of mistake we make in this case.
Sorry I'm bugging you forum with all my comments and questions but I have to see quick if it's a good idea to go on with this script.

Ok, that just happened again.
What I tried is this : Paste a category from sub-category to the mother category. Both disappear.
The first time I wanted to insert a separator to create 2 different Large Categories Listing.
One on Picaud and his life and one on the concept of Vengeance.
So because there is no possiblity to insert a line separator I created a catgory name as this : "===================" in order to get this:
Accueil (for Home)
Toutes les catégories (for All Categories)
================= (false category to insert a line separator)
Picaud category 1
Picaud Category 2
etc
================= (new false category to insert a line separator)
Vengeance
That was what I needed first. But to move a category I used the "cut" icon and-or the "move" icon. But not sure of what I was doing I got my "=============" line as a sub category of category 1. Then I used a "move" icon and both disappeared the separator and the category 1.
I tried one more time just now and moving cutting stuff make the separator and the category disappear. No message to tell what was just done, in the admin panel.

To be sure I'll do it a third time to give you a very accurate process :
1-add "++++++++++++++++" category (let's try another character for fun
)
2-"cut" this category to put it at the very top
so the admin says : paste after "La relation Marguerite-Picaud" category. Since it's the very first category, I accept. BUT I want it to be above "La relation Marguerite-Picaud" so that we'll get something rational like this :
Accueil (for Home)
Toutes les catégories (for All Categories)
++++++++++++++++ (false category to insert a line separator)
Picaud category 1 : "La relationMarguerite-Picaud"
By accepting I get this :
+++++++++++++++++ became a sub category of "La relation Marguerite-Picaud" . But I surely don't want this. So what could I do ? Cut (there is now "move" icon anymore in my subcategory) to put it above but impossible.
3-The only solution is to put i tried to paste the "La relation..." behind "+++++" and both disappear. I just did it.
Of course that was not exactly what I wanted but it's a bug anyway happy to help but it robs my time.

Let's try another one. Since there is no possibilty (except by coding, I can't code) to get a separator ABOVE the very first category which is weird maybe. I'll try something else :
1-add "999999999999999" separator false-category
2-"move" icon to change place with the very first category "Category 1"
3-GREAT ! It works BUT I get the Category1 at the end !!!
4-so I use the "cut" icon to put the first one in second position
5-HELL! It goes straight as a subcategory of "99999999999999999" the separator line. Go back to prison and don't get 20,000 francs as it's written in the Monopoly game. That means, again stuck.

Yes I know, we should not do separator categories but what my problem will come again either for a separator or as a real category. Just imagine spending hours crafting a category and countless faqs and you erase everything without warning or security to get back. This is a major flaw.
But there is probably something I did not catch. Please help me to understand what I did wrong.

The only way to move a category is AFTER another one. I think if there was a CUT and PASTE BEFORE and CUT and PASTE UNDER, it would prevent countless users to drop PhpMyFaq unless they are coders and willing to spend their holidays coding.
At least get a CUT and PASTE BEFORE feature.
I like this piece of software but right now it is useless to me. The basic stuff would be to move a category anywhere in the tree.
The only way to MOVE a category is by exchanging with another one which does not make any sense to me.
I sincerely think the only way for a great PhpMyFAQ would be a complete rewriting with Ajax for example allowing to move anything anywhere.
Until now I have to reconsider my choice.
