phpMyFAQ

In the documentation-preparation para it says----->......It might help to set chmod 777 to the whole phpMyFAQ directory to avoid problems during the installation. Does it mean i need to set 777 ONLY to the faq directory or 777 to ALL the files and folders within that faq directory?
I am trying to install phpmyfaq. but it just says 500 Internal server error.

php.ini running in cgi mode
Already set
# safe_mode = off (recommended)
Added
php_value register_globals 0 to.htaccess
chmod faq directory to 777 (only to the directory. not the files and folders within that)

So why am i getting 500 inetrnal server error?

a 500 server error should be visible in the webservers error log.
