I tried to install the 1.5.3 version. I followed all the instructions but could get the program to connect to the database. It kept telling me it could not make the connection.

I assume it was something I was missing but I could not figure it out.

I am sorry I was not clear in my communication. I am still using 1.5.2 because I can only install the version that me host provides. At this point I'm ready to give up! I've been wrestling with this for three days now and I'm no further ahead than I was when I started. Thank you for trying to help me.

I reinstalled the program and set the permissions for the /inc config.php and data.php to 777. This allows me to update the name of the FAQ and visitors can submit questions however, it returns the following errors when a question is submitted.... Warning: Wrong parameter count for str_replace() in ...

My plan failed!

I tried to run the update but it returned three errors on files that do not exist:

data.php.bak

config.php.bak

Any ideas?

I looked through every folder and there is not update.php! However, I downloaded the 1.5.3. version onto my coupmete and sure enough, the update.php file is there under the /install folder. So, it appears that when I installed this program using MeWeb Host's service, the /install folder was left out...

The program came with my web hosting service. The only version they offer is phpMyFAQ 1.5.2. I can apparently add records because on the admin home page it says "There are 14 records online" however, I cannot see these records when I try to view the program as a visitor. I assume it's a fi...

Hi Thorsten
Yes I activated the records. I've used this program for a couple years and recently, I made the mistake of deleting the database (long story) and so I had to reinstall the program.

I changed the permission on the config.php file to 777 and that allowed me to change the name of the FAQ board. Thank you for that advice. I still have the problem of trying to add and/or accept questions (entries). I can add categories but cannot add any entries to the categories? I changed the dat...

Config Settings

Thanks for responding however, it did not solve my problem. When I log in and then try to change the information on the configuration page nothing happens.

Is there documentation somewhere that I can read to tell me what files to set permissions on?

Configuration Settings and Permissions

Trying to change the configuration settings such as the name of my FAQ but the changes do not take effect. I suspect it's because I need to change permissions but I'm not sure which files and to what settings.

Please advise....
