Hi,

I had the same issue, except the following happened

1) Did the following @ administration -> configuration -> permission level to "medium"
2) Clicked save
3) Tested page, search results still had the same symptoms as previously.
4) Tried to login to admin/index.php --> screen displays "ï ...
