two minor upgrade problems

Post by jazcyk »

we finally upgraded to PMF 2.x

after changing the awful default colors most seems to work fine.

two problems remain however

1)
'Instant Response' shows the count, but not the posts. Is this a bug or a configuration issue on either server or client side (all browsers on my Vista Laptop are affected - not other systems or OS's available at the moment!) ?

Check from: http://www.webyog.com/faq/instantresponse.html

2)
After the upgrade embedded graphics does not display (attachments are OK). Images were stored in PMF 1.6.x /images/ folder. Is this a new restriction imposed that images must be stored a specific place?

one more issue

3) searching does not return results!

again a count is displayed like 'n results found' but the entries do not display!

Please help!!

permissions

Post by jazcyk »

Before it was 777 on all files except data.php and configuration.php that were 444 (I always 'lock' PHP application configuration files like this!). Changing the two files to 777 made no difference. I let everything remain at 777 until we finished this!

Also I think you do not relate to the question about 'embedded' images? This is no acute porblem however. I have only two of those and can easily change to an attachement!

But search is broken and that is a problem!

BTW: I forgot to tell the the upgrade was from 1.6.10 to 2.0.2

permissions?

Post by jazcyk »

I do not understand what you are talking about! Please detail and explain (and make it a habit please!).

What settings in configuration?
Where will I read those? in admin CP? in configuration.php? Somewhere else?

and still: what about the issue with the 'embeded graphics' that disappeared. I asked if there were new restriction on where image files can be stored? Or should I look for the reason somewhere else?

still unclear

I just want to add that I do not understand this 'permission talk'-
Search should workd for an unregistered (guest) user as well I think?

But I never claimed to understand everything (last time I did not understand was sometime back in the mid 1970'es - and that time I do not think Thorsten understood anything :-) ) . But explaining may even help my understanding!

Hi,

please go to the menu item "configuration" in the admin backend and look for the "permission level" in the configuration list. Which one did you choose?

I added this to the bug tracker

"
OK .. I found out:

the topic BLOB contained:
<img src="/faq/images/Image/yogonwine.jpg" />

changing to
<img src="/faq/images/yogonwine.jpg" />
works.

But how does the first URL become created?
By the upgrade process??
"

.. but this thinkforge page is very non-intuitively designed and i am not sure it got added. So I decided to post here as well!
