tigerlinux wrote:Hi there,

I tested again on site two (the SL6 server, with phpmyfaq in english) and everything OK (could do the update using the new "spanish language php file"). Also, I was able to reproduce the "login box not showing" error I commented before. It happens that both servers (site 1 centos 5.6 and site 2 sl6) are multihomed (two NIC's, one for the internal services, one for the public services) and for some reason when I call the phpmyfaq pages from Firefox (last version) with out "http" the login box never expands... but when I use "https", the login box expands OK. Normally, my users on site 1 use phpmyfaq without https, but I instructed them to use https from now to avoid the "login box not expanding" issue.

I'll try to use the firefox developer console to see the specific error when I use firefox with http (not https) and post it here in the forum !!

About site 1, it will have to wait until the spanish language php is changed so the navigation bar (the black one with orange text) wraps correctly and does not mess with the rest of the page :-(

Best regards,

RRMP.-
Call me crazy, but today after I tried and tried and tried to reproduce the "login box not expanding" on site 2, well, the thing is working... even cleared all cache and no go trying to reproduce it !!. No matter if I'm using http or https, the faq expands correctly it's login box

In site 2 (SL6, English phpmyfaq) it is !.. but in site 1 (centos 5.6) we are still running 2.6.x due the text wrapping problem with the spanish language file in 2.7.0 !. There's no way to use properly the phpmyfaq 2.7 series with current spanish language file !.

You can modify the spanish translation easily: In the backend go to "configuration" - last item "Translation" - and edit the spanish translation. You can share your shorten text!
I'll try to use the firefox developer console to see the specific error when I use firefox with http (not https) and post it here in the forum !!
I experienced similar issue, but I wasn't able to reproduce it. Since 2 month it is working smoothly. Perhaps it helps to delete the caches, e.g. in the browser...

Indeed my first option is to shorten the text, but also the navigation bar is wasting too much space !. Shortening the text could be not enough !.

I think a better solution is to modify somehow the navigation bar to allow extend the text to the sides. Look the attached screens from a testing KB installation with 2.7.0... Switching from english to spanish shows what I'm talking about... allowing the text to expand side-wise could be enough (for most resolutions) to solve the problem (the shoots where taken from a firefox 7, fedora desktop at 1280x1024 resolution). Just look the spaces at the sides and the text wrapping to a second line... the text could easily fit in the bar !.

But Thorsten... don't you consider the "default template" should work OK with all the released languages as with series 2.6.x ??.. in any case, and as I'm not an expert on html, in which file under "default" directory is defined the variables for the navigation bar so I can do the changes myself ??

EDIT: I having the same issue reported here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13181 - that is a probable show stopper and I'll have to downgrade Site 2 to 2.6.18.

Hi,

I only speak German and English so I can only check these languages, sorry for that. I even don't know if the translations are correct.

The main template file is template/default/index.tpl

You can copy the whole default folder and rename it to e.g. mytemplate and then you can switch to your templates in the admin configuration.

Ok thanks !. I'll give it a shoot as soon as I can.. I'll install another "testing" kb with v 2.7.0... I had to downgrade my production site 2 to 2.6.18 as a temporary measure while you fix current issues with 2.7.x series !.

I'll try to find a viable translation that accommodates current default theme so you can use it too (if you want of course)... question: The actual maintainer of spanish translation is aware of the text wrapping issues with the default theme/template ??

Hi there,

Just upgraded site 2 (sl6 server) some minutes ago !. Everything seems to be working right so far (specially the last thing I reported with categories link under administration->content).

Site 1 will still need to wait until I do the modifications to the spanigh language file !. I'll let you know when it's ready !.

Yes, but the text still extends to a second line !. The modifications I'll do is to shorten the text so it fits normally as english language do !
