Attached PDF files are corrupted when downloaded

Symptoms:

A PDF file attached to the issue is downloaded by a user who views the entry. The downloaded and initially attached files do not match.

To reproduce:

1. Create a FAQ entry
2. Attach a no-empty PDF to it (e.g., any multipage document will do)
3. Save the entry
4. View the entry (as if you were a FAQ user, not the editor)
5. Download the attached file
6. Compare the original file with the attached one

Forgot to add to the report: my browser is Firefox 1.5 for Win32. Tried with MSIE and got the same result.

Has anybody experienced it with certain combinations of Apache/PHP versions?
