PDF export stopped working. 1.5.4

Unfortunately this is a heavily customized PMF and we haven't been able to upgrade. we are still on 1.5.4. The PMF has been working great but suddenly the pdf feature stopped working and we can not generate any pdf files. I just get a blank page, no errors.
I looked inside the PDF folder and it had over 400 files so I know it was working and the latest date on the pdf files was 10/21/06. I check the folder permissions and it is set to 777. We can generate xml files with no problem.
Any hints to start troubleshooting it? Upgrading to the latest version is out of the question for awhile.

Hi,

did you change some in your PHP configuration or updated to another PHP version? What's happening when you're enabling the DEBUG mode?
