Default Language | Disable Browser Detection

Post by rdb3 »

The language stuff is swell but we don't need it right now.

So, what is the best method to default to English only regardless of the visitor's browser setting?

All of our articles are in English and we don't want a language selector on the index page.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,

select english as default language and disable the automatic language detection. That should work.

Thanks for the reply.

However, I am not clear on how to "disable the automatic language detection".

Which setting in which file needs to be modified?

I see no such setting in Admin.

This has been renamed "Enable automatic language detection," and it's in the main configuration menu.

I wanted to stay with german, but when I delete the english language file, the frontend displays only a empty, white page.
I "fixed" it with disabling "Enable automatic language detection", set the default language to "german" and deleted the drop-down menu in the index.tpl.

Hi,

please do not delete the English translation file as it works as fallback for all languages.
