How can I edit the main faq javascript file?

I want to edit some of the way the javascript is set up, but when i open assets/js I have a "regular" phpmyfaq.js and a min version, obviously I can't edit the mid version, but the regular version is half min and half not, its full of errors according to my ide, and when I try to minify it throws errors, when i try to use as is, without minify it throws errors, I tried using the regular version from github and it throws errors and the page is blank, how can I go about doing this? I'm using 2.8.22
