Is it possible to re-arrange the order of the questions?

Post by peterb »

Hi,

I'm evaluating phpMyFAQ for possible use at my site. One issue that I think is important when it comes to maintain a FAQ is the ability to re-arrange the questions within a category. It's obviously (says so in the docu) possible to re-arrange categories and move posts from one category to another but can I re-arrange the questions? I'm not talking about ordering them in alfabethical order or from earliest asked to latest asked. I guess that the default way of presenting the Q&As is in the order they have been entered, what I'm wondering is if you can restructure (in any way you please) the default order of the Q&As? My reason for searching for a solution that can do just that is that in many cases questions are not asked in the, pedagogically speaking, right order. A maintainer of a FAQ might want to or need to re-arrange the questions so that the FAQ as a whole makes better sense.

TIA,

Peter Brink

Hi Thorsten,

While You're at it with the reordering thing.

Would be extremely nice if You could enable a sticky function as well as reordering after hits
* hence the F in FAQ ;)

Reorder using a database?

Post by kklimack »

Hi Thorsten,

Is there a way that I can edit a database and change the recordID to change the order of records?

Hi,

this isn't a good idea because you would lost the internal relation between the SQL tables.
