Thanks a lot for answering a couple of my questions!
I am able to reproduce this issue as below:
1. Install a new phpmyfaq from scratch, which mean new db, new install location...
2. After running the setup page, it show a brand new 17 version page, both admin console and user access ...

Hello Masters,
Another question may need your advices! I download & installed 2.6.17 package on a server from scratch. It runs well so far except I found the version number in the UI is still 2.6.16, the bug about the 16's category fully expended bug has been fixed. The only thing looks weird here ...

I am evaluating this program to be our knowledge base system and i had to say it's pretty good!!
Now I get a new requirement which is how can I backup the data periodically in phpMyfaq??
I notice there is a handy tool in the admin page that I can backup the data and logs manually ...

Greetings!
I got a question when using phpMyFAQ 2.0.17 that I installed in on a Centos 5.5 server. It works good when it's just installed.
I added a set of groups, users, catagories...
However, when I rebooted the server, all the group list is missing!! See Pic1:
