How can I display questions as formatted text?

Is there a way to display the 'questions' in a formatted way, or at the very least have line breaks (mine currently displays as one continuious line)?

When the same question is displayed in a pdf file, the text has line breaks.

Example of how the question text appears in the pdf file, and how I would like it the question text to appear on a normal page

1. this is some text
2. here is more text
3. yes, more text

This is how the above question appears on the normal page

1. this is some text2. here is more text3. yes, more text

I've tried the above on a clean install, which also fails to format the 'question' text, so this appears to be some sort of bug?

I've tried adding html code when entering the question text, but that doesn't work, as the code then gets displayed as well.

Is there a way to change and make good the above please?
