My hoster ar server linux of www.aruba.it and I can not install phpmyfaq.
Does not connect to the database but the username, dbuser host and password are correct.
I can only install the version phpMyFAQ 1.6.x but then if I try to update it gives me the same mistake.
How can I do?

well, the DB connection handling between version 1.6 and version 2.0 are almost the same. If you can install version 1.6.x, you can also install 2.0 because they have almost the same dependencies.

I had similar/same problem. Somewhere along the line a blank is added to the host. Quick and dirty:
In Mysql.php add rtrim:
$this->conn = mysql_connect(rtrim($host), $user, $passwd);
