I can't create new users

On my phpmyFAQ I cannot create any new users. I have tried registering practice users, and creating new users through the admin username, but neither of them show up. When I am signed the admin user login, the user created when I installed, I add a user, but then I can't log into it. It just says user and password not valid. Also, if I use the registration form after I fill it out, nothing happens, no email comes in, it doesn't come up in my admin user name, nothing happens. Any ideas?

Yes, you can see the users in the admin back-end, it just doesn't recognize them on the home page and you can't register users through the home page. You fill out the form and put submit, but then nothing happens again.
