Formatting Options in phpMyFAQ

Post by Gregg »

Hello.

My organization is looking for FAQ software for internal knowledge retention and employee training. The COO asked me, the network admin, to research the possibilities and I referred him to phpMyFAQ. However, he had also asked a member of his staff to search as well and that person discovered, recommended and purchased FAQ Manager.

I am still pushing to implement phpMyFAQ and, due to a not-pleasant experience with FAQ Manager, the COO and his staffer are leaning that way now as well. I don't have them totally convinced, though. Here is an excerpt from an email the staffer sent me:
I feel limited in my ability to format. The text field boxes, I believe, recognize HTML format, of which I know very little. I need the ability to change fonts\size, center, add bullets\number links, change font color, highlight text, and ext. In FAQ Manager, it had a MS Word box for the input of all the editable text fields. Is something like that possible? Some of the information is quite extensive and without proper formatting it would be one big blur (for an end user). I'd say around 40% of the entries needs to have formating of some sort to make it easier to read and find information within the article. Some articles are as long as 4-5 single-spaced MS Word pages.
I read the documentation but can't find any reference to a task such as this. Can anyone answer his questions or point me to a resource where I can find the answer? Long term, I will have to maintain the FAQ but, for now, to get up and running, the staffer will enter in the questions from the Word docs that he's been using to compile the information gathered from various employees and managers.

Hi,

we use the TinyMCE editor in phpMyFAQ and it supports copy&paste from Word.

Thank you for the reply, Thorsten.
I researched TinyMCE and have it nominally working on my site.
How is it integrated with phpMyFAQ?
