i have the same problem.
i upgraded from 2.0.5 to 2.7.8 and i can't switch off the "Email Requirement".
No difference if i check or uncheck the box for this setting:

"Mail address as mandatory field (default: deactivated)"


Any ideas?

Hi Thorsten,

I'm having the same problem. I've unchecked Mandatory email address and saved. But when I try to enter my questions in Add FAQ or Add Questions, the system requires email address. Any idea what we are missing here?

Hi Thorsten,

Yes, I've downloaded version 2.7.9. I tried it again. If I leave the name and the email address blank, the error message would say "Required fields are your name, your email address, your question and, when requested, the Captcha code." But when I enter a name, even if I leave the email address blank, it saves the question. Is this how it is supposed to work? So, name is always mandatory?

yes, the name ist mandatory, only the e-mail address is optional by configuration.
