Problems with tags and comments!!!

Post by monsterface »

As my title shows u, I got a problem with the tags and comments in the faq. Always when I write any tags in a new faq, it can't be opened. There is always an error, that the side couldn't open! I really have no idea, what the reason of that could be.

My next problem is the comment function. I run phpmyfaq on two sides, one on my pc and the another one on the server. On the pc I can write as many comments as I want. But when I try to write in the faq on the server, than i get all the time the "saving screen" but nothing happens.

Searching for help if possible! And sry for not being active for a while, since I had no problems with the faq, I tought it would be meaningless!!

My version is 2.8.17, i tried to update it to 2.8.19, but it didnt work. While there was written that it worked, I never had to delete ./install/setup.php manually since there wasn't one to begin with.
Also this version still is at 2.8.17....

I have fixed the problem regarding the comments. I just had to transfer the mailtodisk-folder directly under the root-folder. But i still have a problem with comments, in example if I write small text it has no problem to save, but when i start to write long textes it kinda runs the saving all the time. I could wait 10mins but it still wouldn't save--

As I said, when i use tags the whole faq will be unable to access.

Hi,

can I test that on your FAQ? What was the error message for the 2.8.19 update?

I got no error message, that is the problem. There was written, that it worked but nothing happend. Just the update.php is gone and setup.php was never there.

Also i have a problem with my session. If i dont click the remember me thing, the session always closes after refreshing or going to another site on phpmyfaq. Like I log in, click on the main page and then im not logged in anymore.

How can I show u my phpmyfaq?

Also it seems that the problems are only on my server. On my pc with xampp i dont get any of those problems, only on the server there are the problems with that thing.

To get all the problems together:

1. Seems like I can't post long comments
2. When I use tags, the user is unable to access the FAQ, which has the tags.
3. After login in u will automatically be logged out. I don't know why, there is no log out screen also, u just aren't logged in anymore.

And the biggest problem, it is only on my server, nothing of that happens actually on my pc with xampp! ..

nearly, i just changed the main.referenceUrl to the site of my server.

Also i updated the faq now, but have the problem, that the diagram is again orange. I changed it to green, but forgot where I had to change the color in the script. Do u perhaps know where to change it?

still the other questions are open

How long is the comment? Maximum length with MySQL are 2 mio characters.
2. When I use tags, the user is unable to access the FAQ, which has the tags.
What's happening? White page?
3. After login in u will automatically be logged out. I don't know why, there is no log out screen also, u just aren't logged in anymore.
Looks like your PHP sessions do not work.

Rest assured, the comment isnt in the near of 2mio characters, haha

No, I get the screen, couldnt get data with an error message, yea.
Die Webseite kann nicht geladen werden, da der Server keine Daten gesendet hat.
Fehlercode: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE
Looks like your PHP sessions do not work.
The same session works on my pc, but not on my server, kinda funny dont u think so?

Sooo, I got some extra information from testsing fooling around like an idiot!

1. The sessions break up, when i switch between the admin-section and the interface of the normal user. I mean i can stay in the FAQ-Base and it doesn't break up the section, but when I switch to the admin-section, then it breaks up and i have to log in again. The same works in the other way, from Admin-Section to user-interface it breaks up.

2. It seems like that I can use three tags after successfully updating the php to 2.8.19 BUT if I use more than 3 tags it breaks down again. With break down I mean it just seize to work and an access to the faq isn't possible anymore...

3. All my changed colors changed from green to orange, my eyes kinda hurt. Also I got whole new RSS-Feeds, so that just means, that I have to search again from the beginning and delete them all? QQ

Those wee my achieved informations from fooling around !!

Sincerly ~

Edit: 4. The long comments still doesn't work, I don't have any idea how something like 150 characters couldn't be written as comment. There have to be a fatal problem from transfering phpmyfaq to the server. I don't really know why. This problem was like the problem with the "mailtodisk"-directory. This was also a problem where I had to remove it and place it diretly into the root folder... So what do u think I could do now? Just to tell it, I didn't change anything in the script that could produce such an error like "not working sessions, breaking the connection when using more than 3 tags, long comments can't be posted". So I really have no clue, since I don't get any error messages also, QQ!!

you can set a cookie when logging in, so you don't get logged out.

You should create an own template set to avoid this after upgrades. Here's the documentation for that: http://www.phpmyfaq.de/docs/2.8#7.1

stupid questions, but in which script should I place that cookie?

I kinda said some stupid things since I wanted to make the text a lot funnier, lol.

Well, I did it like a pro and changed everything in the scripts. Sadly one of my mistakes was that i had to change them with the update, QQ.

Mine:
The long comments still doesn't work, I don't have any idea how something like 150 characters couldn't be written as comment.
So I edited this, so I don't know if u saw it or not. Sadly I still got the same problem. I think I did some mistakes while transfering the phpmyfaq from my pc to the main server..

AwwA, u meant the "remember me" checkbox, haha. Ye, I'm already using it since it won't work otherwhise. But i should be more specific. When I don't check the checkbox then it won't work. I will always get logged out the instant i do something. When im checked in with "checking the checkbox" then it will only get out, when i change from the admin-section to normal-section and the other way. hehe.

For everyhting else: Enable the debug mode in inc/Bootstrap.php and post the error messages here.
OMG, I never knew, that there is something like that. The debug mode is so amazing, how does this actually work. If i knew something like this exist, I would have done this way earlier and would have used it for myself as well! Thank ya
