The connection to the MySQL server could not be established.
Error: Access denied for user: 'user@localhost' (Using password: YES)
- OSX 10.3.6
PHP 4.3.9 (CompletePHP)
MySQL 4.0.17 (CompleteMYSQL)
Apache 2.0.52 (CompleteAPACHE)
I have phpMyAdmin installed and the user for phpMyFAQ has FULL access to the phpMyFAQ database ONLY.
Not that this should matter but Firewall is OFF.
Any ideas? Any more info needed?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

There's no data.php only a data.php.original.

Hi,
are the tables created in your database?
It seems the data.php and the config.php weren't written.

Hi,
is it possible to do a complete fresh install? What about your file permissions? Does the install script have write permissions?

I'll give it a go.
All files are the same owner/group that Apache runs as.

Hi,
this should be okay. There are checks if the script can write and there are checks if data.php was correctly written. Very strange.

... I finally got around to re-installing again. This time I used 1.4.4.
Still same error message. Same files exist as before.
I can log into MySQL because phpMyAdmin works.
I'm going to try and give it a go on another system and see if I can track down the problem.

Still a no go. That was a clean system too. Exactly the same error.
Doesn't look like it'll work under OSX so I'll have to put together the $$$ to build a Fedora system and try it on that.
I was really looking forward to it working on the OSX system though.

Hi,
a friend of mine owns a Powerbook G4 with MacOS X. I will ask him to try to install phpMyFAQ on his laptop.
