New install. Approved question

Post by pdchapin »

What does the "approved" actually do? The save button appears to load a question in the database, and the make visiable option lets people see it. The Approve Record option in the administrative area appears to just bring up the edit record screen.

Is it related to the search in any way. We're having problems with some records being found by search and other not.

Hi,

when a user adds a FAQ record in the public frontend it is saved but not approved. You have to activate this record to make it visible.

Which problems do you have with the search?

Isn't that the same as editing the record and changing the status to make is visiable?

Is this some way specific to case where someone submits both a question and an answer? For our particular application we've taken away that option. The requirements being laid on me are rather odd so I've been hacking away at the code to get it to do things it was never intended to do.

The searching problem is harder to nail down. It just doesn't seem to be able to find things on occassion. I haven't been able to nail down precisely when this happens. I suspect that the message is in some kind of non-approved or non-saved status. If I can get something more specific I'll let you know.

BTW, am I correct that the search doesn't include comments? Is there any easy way to change that?

that's difficult because you have to change the database layout and you have to change a lot in the search function.
