1.5.0 RC4 installation

Post by telenut »

When you enter the wrong password during installation, it does not asks for it again, instead is says: a version of phpmyfaq is already running, and it sends you to the update script.
Afther that you get the following error on all pages:

The connection to the MySQL server could not be established.

The error message of the MySQL server:
Access denied for user: 'xxxx@localhost' (Using password: YES)

(ok, I shoud not be so stupid to enter the wrong password, but I did... And now I have te reinstall phpmyfaq every time I enter the wrong password, not funny :p )

Now I found the right password, installation works perfect. But...
I have 1.4.7 running on an other server. I made a backup of the database, and now wanted to put this backup in the new version... Does not work /

So I guess I have to install 1.4.8, import the backup there, overwrite the files with 1.5.0, and run the update script?

(It's fucked up anyway, so why not just test it and report back later...)

15 min later:
I made a backup of the version on the server, tried to insert it in the local version I just installed: had an error: max execution time exeeded. The table with the users was not imported, so unable to log in again.
Let's try other solution: using phpmyadmin... No luck, seems like the mysql on my desktop is not the same as the one on the server... I'll be back!

4 h later..
Did an upgrade of mySQL, had to update php too, but still same problem: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded ...

I managed it to import the data using phpmyadmin (made no changes, guess the ammount of data was to big for my little desktop pc)
Layout of this version looks good. Export works perfect.
Nice job

I will do some other test this week. Report back later. (tips to change the 30 sec limit are welcome, could not find anything in php.ini)

Hi,

thanks for your testing!

You're right, an restore of the 1.4.x backup does not work in 1.5.x because of the database changes. You choose the right way with upgrading 1.4 to 1.5

I'll look at your problem with the time out. There is a solution.

bye
