Most Viewed/Top Rated "x" Items per Category

Good day! Hope somebody can give me some hints on how to do this.

I'm thinking of putting a grid on the homepage to list out the top 5 FAQs per category and a "view more" link. The top 5 will be based on either the number of views or the highest rated items. The "view more" leads to the default category pages.

It's like having many "Most Popular FAQs" but filtered by different categories.

Thanks for the tip! I tried searching the board for other related topics. This is the closest one to my question.

I tried tracking the changes, but it seems they're no longer applicable given the new version.
Is there a way to add a category filter to an RSS feed? Like passing the category value in the url? (example: ?cat=2)
