Show All Categories

Post by alinford »

I am using main categories with several sub categories in each main categories. When I click the Show All Categories link, it shows the sub categories that have entries, but not the main categories (I do not have any entries in the main categories)

What I really want to see is this:
(Music and Movies are main categories, the others are sub categories)

Code: Select all

     Music
            Jazz (5 entries)
            Rock (7 entries)
            Disco (6 entries

     Movies
            Comedy (6 entries)
            Drama (8 entries)

Etc.
Has somebody done this?
Any help would be appreciated.

I updated, and...

I am now running 1.3.2 (my site is not in production yet, so it it ok). I like the new view where it shows the subcategories. I have a couple of suggestions (don't we all)

1. When you click 'Show All Categories', it should show them in hierarchical format on the right hand side (the main categories with their subs under them). Right now it just shows all of the categories and sub categories in a long list. This would be kind of like it shows them for each category on the left when you click on them , but it would show ALL categories this way on the right when you click 'Show All Categories'.

2. If I am using a category as a main category, I will not have any entries directly in it, only sub categories with entries. I do not want to show this as an empty category at the bottom on the right side (it will never have any direct entries, so why show it). I would like to suppress the 'No entries available' notice for all empty categories that have subcategories
