category problems after changing language in admin

Post by jes.ter »

I am not sure whether this could be a bug or not.

I am using PHPmyFAQ Version 1.6.9 on FreeBSD, Apache 2, latest PHP and mySQL (I hope). :)

I've been working in Admin an a german interface, creating categories, putting many articles in and so for. By accident I've changed the admin language to english and surprisingly all content was disappeared. *wtf* Then I went back to german, all the work is still there. *pew*. Then I was switching to french with same result, back to german, everything is back again. *hm?*

I've played a little bit with and determine that you can create a completely new and independent category tree in all available languages. That's pretty cool, but if you will use the "Search" (regular or extended does not matter) in Live Site you will see all categories from all admin interfaces. This for sure will puzzle many users.

IMHO one of this behaviours might be wrong. :)

kind regards

Hi,

you're right, the language handling in the category administration is quite "strange" in version 1.6. We put a lot of work into the new version 2.0 for this and it's really better in 2.0.

Thx for your reply. Does this mean it is a known issue and you've already fixed this in upcoming version 2.0? Would you provide kind of a a fix for most current version 1.6.x also?

OT:
I see you reference list and I am happy to become a member of as soon as 'our' new FAQ is online. A resonable donation will come right in time. :)

Hi,

well, I don't see the behaviour as bug - it's just a missing feature. phpMyFAQ 1.6.x will be supported until the end of the year and will only receive minor bug fixing and no new features.
