I was trying to update my test 1.3.9 system to 1.4 M2
Any idea what is wrong? as I get the following error..
At step 5 of the update I get these messages
Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
Warning: mysql_query(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/hsphere/local/home/b/myie2info.com/origfaq/install/update.php on line 345

Hi Andrew,
this is strange. It seems your MySQL server was not availible during the upgrade. Was the file data.php and config.php updated to the new format?

Hi Andrew,
one time, the update works and one time, the update works not? This is strange.... how do the both files look like? Can you delete the entries in data.php and quote it here? Thanks!

Thorsten - I am going to put this down as user error
I guess I was tired the other day. I removed all my files and dropped my tables.
Then created a fresh 1.3.9 system and restored my backup into it.
Then did the 1.4.0 M2 Update over that and all went well. All files were as they should be.
sorry for this thread
