I don't think emailing open questions to the FAQ owner is the best policy, sometimes even because the user doesn't necessarily have an email account where the files are placed, for instance. I think the best thing to do would be put an Open Questions counter in the main admin page (The number of visits, the number of articles, the number of comments are there I don't know why the number of open questions aren't really), since they would immediately be seen and possibly answered by some admin that logs in

phpMyFAQ 1.4.1 now supports both informations, the e-mail and the number of open questions in the admin section.
